The monastery belongs to the Red Sect of Buddhist Lamas. It was located on the ‘Observatory Hill’ previously and was shifted from here during Gorkha invasion in year 1815. The monastery can accommodate more than 60 monks. It houses an idol of Maithreya Buddha, which is 4.57 meter high. The monastery has also preserved some of the rarest Buddhist Manuscripts. It belongs to the Yellow Sect of Buddhism.
