Encircled by crystal clear deep blue water, sparkling coral reefs and green coconut palms, Lakshadweep is one of the most exotic holiday destinations in the territory of India. It is known as India’s smallest Union Territory and world’s most impressive tropical island system. According to the geography, Lakshadweep is an archipelago, which sprawls over an area of thirty-two square kilometers of land that includes 12 atolls, three reefs and five underwater banks, and a total of 39 islands and islets. In addition, its land area is surrounded by 4200 square kilometers of lagoon, rich in marine wealth. Altogether, its valuable heritage of sustainable ecosystem and culture is supported by a well-managed tourism which chiefly focuses on eco-tourism approach in tourism promotion and ecological conservation.

All of the islands and islets of this destination is blessed with the immense beauty of sandy beaches, coral reef, pure and clear water, however, a some of them differ in terms of facilities and services offered. For example, in some of the islands, one can get try a range of water activities such as, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, lagoon fishing, etc, while in some remote ones, one can just relax and indulge in the tranquility and harmony of Mother Nature. On the matter of connectivity, Lakshadweep is very-well connected to mainland India via airways as well as waterways. However, it has only one aerodrome which is located on Agatti Island and currently being served by Air India Regional, a contributory of the state-owned carrier that flies from Kochi (Cochin) on the mainland. In addition to that, other islands can be reached by hiring the Pawan Hans Helicopter or boat service. Also, there are six ships which connect Kochi and Lakshadweep, named as: M.V Amindivi, M.V Kavaratti, M.V Arabian Sea, M.V Minicoy, M.V Bharath Seema and M.V Lakshadweep Sea.

Being an entire naturally bound destination, Lakshadweep doesn’t have many monuments or cultural heritage to entice any heritage lover but the natural ambience of purity that it offers will surely entice any kind of traveler. Agatti

Located at a distance of about 459 kms from Cochin (Kochi), Agatti Island is a small island which spans for only 6 kms long and 1000 ms in width. This island is known for having picturesque beaches and palm groves. Some of the famous activities one can try here are, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, and kayaking etc. However, it should also be noted that it is the only island which has Lakshadweep’s only aerodrome which is served by Air India Regional, a subordinate of the state-owned carrier which flies from Kochi on the mainland (to or from Indian).

Kalpeni

It is an independent island which is situated at a distance of 287 km from Cochin. On this island, one can try a large number of water sports and activities such as pedal boating, kayaking and sailing. Apart from being a fun island, Kalpeni is also famous for its picture perfect beach locations. The Storm Bank is one of most important amongst them.
